"What is your favorite color?", they asked.
How can I tell it in just one word,
when there are so many colors in this world.
It might be the golden yellow of sunlight,
Which wakes me up in the morning
Or it might be the blue sky,
Which makes me wonder "why".
Is it the green of the veined leaves,
Which is the life of a plant
Or is it the violet from a rainbow,
Which is a rainy day's shadow.
It could be the pink of a spring flower,
Which adds beauty to the world
Or it could be the grey shadow on a wall,
Which is always our pal.
It may be the rough brown of a tree's bark,
Which is the hold-up of a tree
Or it may be the red of a cherry,
Which makes my heart go merry.
Is it the lime of a lemon,
Which is too sour for my taste
Or is it the orange of fire,
Which is full of desire.
It can be the striking white of lightning,
Which brightens up the dark sky
Or it can be the black of a night,
Which is infinite.
They wonder why I haven't answered,
But what do I tell when,
Every color in this world,
Is my favorite.
